I got tickets for a free cruise to the Bahamas, but i declined.

I got tickets for a free cruise to the Bahamas, but i declined.

About a week and a half ago, I wound up getting a call from a radio station of some sort. One i didn’t listen to that’s for sure because I cant stand the radio. Anyways, I missed the call, and later saw the number and wondered who it could have been, so I called back.

It was an upbeat automated voice message from Nighthawk 91 FM and they wanted me to push some numbers to play a trivia game in order to win a 2 night cruise to the Bahamas sponsored by Holiday Cruise Line. Even though I had serious doubts that it was even real, I still played. I was only studying for a final that, needless to say, determined my final letter grade.

So they asked me 3 questions about some artists and said that if I got them right, I was a winner. The first question was “What artist is known for liking the color purple?”, then they gave me a 3 different artists to choose from and I chose Prince because “Purple Rain” of course. The next question was who made the song “Beat it”. I pressed 3 for Micheal Jackson. So easy, I’m thinking . The last was “which one of these artist was part of N Sync?”. I knew it was Justin Timberlake and it’s ironic because I had only known just a week prior that he was even in the group when I talked about N Sync with a friend. Seriously, never knew what they had even looked like, and with that stroke of luck, I won.

Then, they give me instructions on how to claim my 2 tickets, so I checked out the website put my number in and it confirmed I was a winner. I then was directed to a page that told me I had to pay some type of fee that was like around $150, and only then would they send me an email that contained my 2 tickets.

This is the part that I felt stupid for not doing research before I had gotten to this point so I looked up to see if anyone had gotten this call and had payed the fee and actually went on the cruise. To my surprise, it just so happened that a lot of people did. Though it was only 2 days or more like 1 or less than a day to actually be in the Bahamas, they actually went, and enjoyed their time. Some posted pictures and most kept saying that if anyone actually got this call that they were lucky so I pondered my situation thinking I haven’t been doing much all summer aside from summer school and babysitting, and I was definitely considering it. I felt I needed some fun but I didn’t know anyone I could take. Even though this didn’t have a date that you had to use them by, I knew that everyone was so busy , and by everyone I mean the small circle of friends I do have and would want to go with me.

So my next idea was to give them away but that didn’t go well either. Everyone thought that if they were docked here in Texas and not in Florida then maybe it was just not worth it, which I had originally thought that too. But still I didn’t think it be wise to just waste 2 free tickets.

Sadly, I did anyway.

I wound up passing up the opportunity due to the fact that it just wasn’t worth it to me and apparently a lot of people I knew. To have to drive or fly all of the way to Florida, be on the ship most of the time and not really spend much time in the Bahamas didn’t sound to good because after all, it was only 2 days. I did think about selling the tickets but found out its not so easy doing that because my name would be on them and that could cause havoc with the buyers and the company. So talk about being stuck between and rock and a hard place.

Anyways, now on to pretending like it didn’t happen like I’ve been doing since the deadline to claim the tickets passed. Just continuing my summer cruiseless. Oh well though, I can say I do feel pretty cool since nothing exciting like this generally ever happens to lil ol’ me, so ill take it, thanks. You just gave me a post to write about.

UPDATE: This was an old post I had written last year May 2017 on Sweet Humility. My summer was pretty hectic with school and work. I cant believe I was even thinking about considering this. But I’m glad I didnt for that reason because I just went to the Bahamas a couple weeks ago for my 21st birthday with my mom that lasted a week and I had a blast! I can’t imagine had I only gone for just a day or two. How funny… still it was a pretty cool experience and made me feel kind of special. I remember feeling kind of bummed about it, but this goes to show that you never know what’s in store for you.

Check out I went to the Bahamas with my mama! to see my experience in Nassau, Bahamas!

Have you guys ever gotten a crazy call like this? and did you ever act on it? Please share below!

I went to the Bahamas with my Mama!- Nassau Bahamas Review

I went to the Bahamas with my Mama!- Nassau Bahamas Review

Here’s some exciting news, I went to the Bahamas with my mama! And let me tell ya,

I couldn’t have been more amazed.

I don’t travel much, and my mama decided to treat me to a trip for my 21st birthday this year and my 3 years graduation from my community college. I had so many new experiences underneath my belt by the end of the trip including my first plane ride, first time jet skiing and more!

The beginning

OK so we had to take separate flights to get to the Bahamas because a flight straight there was booked.

We woke up at about 4am to make it on time for our flight to Miami. It was 2 1/2 hours from Houston, and since it was my first flight, I gotta say it wasn’t bad. I enjoyed it very much actually as I felt so grown up, it was a full flight but being next to my mom made it easier.

We reached Miami and waited about an hour before our next flight. We got on went up and literally came down in only 30 minutes and we were there! All we needed to do was change our clocks forward an hour set our luggage down safely and enjoy our first time in the Bahamas. yay!

After security again and customs we had to find a taxi. We met a nice bahamian man named Gary who drove us to the resort and who agreed to take us back to the airport on our last day.

Life of the Bahamians

On the way to the resort, we saw a lot of the poverish side of the Bahamas. A lot of torm down houses, old buildings, small two-way crowded streets that needed repair, and so many sharp turns that if you didn’t know where you were going, you were in for a nightmare (I would not feel comfortable driving there).

Gary was explaining to us the cost of living there. If we wanted to get a house there on the wealthier part of the island, the part we hadn’t seen, The cost of living wasn’t that bad. Basically you could make the average persons’ salary here in the U.S. and live pretty well over there. But the cost of gas would make you think otherwise, Gary said it was 5.00 a gallon! We saw and above average number of cars for sale on the side of the road or in lots and figured that was why.

Our entire trip in a nutshell.

Atlantis Paradise Island was our resort and was nothing short of it’s name. The lobby was huge and spacious the ceiling was inscripted with beautiful artwork. We checked in and grabbed an activity sheet that they printed out everyday so the guest could see what highlighted events they had going on the resort, then we headed to the room. There were east tower and a west towers. The Royal The beach the cove the coral. We stayed in “The Royal” in the west tower. It was the tower that connected the 22 thousand a night suite that Oprah and Micheal Jackson would rent when they came to stay with the tower next door. I forget what that one was called. Boy, did I wish we could have a tour of that suite.

The view from our suite was gorgeous as we awed over it taking pics for a while. We settled in and my mom was pretty tired from the early morning flights so we chilled. She went to sleep I was up making our to do list for the week I studied that activity sheet like nothing else I had ever studied before ( I’m exaggerating of course) and decided which days was best to do what. I then walked around the resort to see what I was a part of.

There was so much to do.

A casino was to the right of the lobby upstairs where you come in and in there were bars, 2 clubs, and bunches of people crowding the tables gambling there butts off. Beyond there was a mall, very high end, and continuing was the marina a place where people docked their beautiful yachts with places to eat, shops for souvenirs and so much more.

There was a nice aquarium that I walked past, ponds and bridges filled with sting rays, turtles and other kinds of water creatures. The scenery was gorgeous, with outdoor seating, pools, water slides and lazy river tubes.

I would take too long to list everything there but almost everything there was family friendly. People looked so happy, all the employees were so ready to help and generally everywhere you looked when you needed them, kids were on cloud nine, parents and older people were sipping fruity alcohol beverages and you know what the best part was? It wasn’t even crowded.

I went back to the room got my mom up and we went to eat in the marina part of the resort at a place right next to the Pirate republic, I forget what it’s called. They had a great burger that me and my mom scarfed down.

The Fun Begins!! Day 2

The next day came and my mom and I were dying to check out the beach, The first thing I noticed was the weather was freaking AWESOME, the highest temperature the entire trip was 82 degrees and the lowest was about 80. And to think it was like this all year round was a big relief from the blazing heat back home in Houston Texas.

The water was so blue and clear and there was high wind that day so the waves were pretty brutal. It was pretty startling at first because the water was pretty cold but once you were in there, you didn’t want to get out. The waves just took you and you could absolutely float forever.

My mom and I were swearing that the only bit of exercise we would do on the trip was swimming against the waves which was pretty hard work. We kept thinking that if only our phones were waterproof or maybe if we had a waterproof case things would have been even better that day. Needless to say we were determined to find one.

There were people that were jet skiing, banana boating, and parasailing at a distance. There was even a small private wedding going on. The beach was everything I ever wanted and more.

Before we had started our day early at the beach we had made a reservation to do a “Deep Water Dive” swim with the dolphins at 2pm. This is one of a couple experiences your family could have with the dolphins. I love dolphins and had never been near any so this was a must do during our stay.

When we got there we signed in and had to change into tight swim suits and were assigned groups. Then we met a sweet little dolphin. We all took turns taking pics and having the dolphin push us with its nose and hang on to its fin while it brought us back to the group. It was a pretty cool experience, the only thing I had hoped is that it have been a little longer. It lasted about 30 minutes.

That’s all we had planned for that day. We had went to eat outside of the resort today, in a little shack place, called Green Parrot that was a lot cheaper than eating on the island, as anyone could guess. It wasn’t too far, but you would need great directions to find it cause it sure is hidden.

The fish, Conch, seemed to be pretty popular on the island so my mom and I decided to try some conch fritters. It was pretty good and very light. It reminded me of the texture of a funnel cake.

Next we went back to the room and rested for a couple hours and then decided to check out the Atlantis theater which was free. They were showing “Den of thieves” and it was great.

Day 3!!

The next day we ate a light breakfast as we were headed to some water again. We had on different swimsuits and were ready to explore some more. Our task for this day, which was Wednesday, was to try the water park and more of the beach since we fell in love with the beach. We met a bunch of nice families while waiting in some lines for the rides that, remember, weren’t very long because it wasn’t crowded during this time.

The first ride we went on was a single or double tube ride that took you through the aquarium so you could see the sharks and the other fishes from within!

There was this one ride called the leap of faith that happened to be the type of ride I wasn’t too fond of. you know the kind that that drops you straight down? Yea I swore that I wasn’t going on that thing.

I went on it.

I had to. my mom and I both had to get it out of our systems and to say we AT LEAST tried it. It wasn’t that bad cause it only lasted about 3 to 4 seconds, literally.

After hours at the water park, back to the beach we went and partied some more in the water. Today we rode jet ski’s and it was my first time. My mom drove for the first ten minutes with me holding on and we fell into the water twice. Scared the hell outta me to and All I kept thinking was if something brushes past my toes I might drown.

I love my mom but she couldn’t drive anymore.

I hopped on and my mom hung on and I was pretty slow and safe at first. I found out then how hard it was to drive a jet ski when you’re a beginner. It kept turning by itself and there were plenty of times I felt we were going to fall off again but I was determined that we weren’t. I got the hang of it went a little faster and I really enjoyed it. I feel next time I should be a pro! We got a free ride to do the banana boat and saw Miss Blue Ivy’s beach house that her daddy Jay Z bought for her. Probably to house all of her toys, I assumed.

We were tired and hungry so we ate some chicken wraps at a place called shark bites near the beach, put on our coveralls and headed to the aquarium!

That in itself was pretty cool we were in awe about all the crazy wildlife underwater. I even got my flirt on with one fish that was eyeing me down, my mother too hehe.(sorry babe!) and that was it! 2 busy days and counting under our belt.

Day 4!!!

Thursday was kinda gloomy but still felt great though. We did some shopping some site seeing, and we went to the Atlantis earth and fire pottery studio to paint ceramics! I love arts and crafts so this was right up my alley, it took up a great deal of our time as we were there for about three hours. It was so fun and very family friendly as well. I painted a starfish and my mother a seahorse.

After that we were starved and went out for pizza in the marina which at this point I believe seemed to be our favorite place to get food seeing as though we were surrounded by yachts, our favorite thing to talk about at the marina.

Later that night it was back to the movie theater to watch The Commuter with Liam Nessen, excellent movie by the way.

Day 5, Last Day.

To the beach we went and the sun was the brightest it ever was on our trip making the water look exceptionally gorgeous. We spent loads of time here again enjoying every minute, playing and laughing like little 5 year old girls. Trying to take it all in before reality set in back at home. We ate at this place called the Burger Shack and ordered two more burgers that were delicious and then we left to get ready for our flight.

We called Mr. Gary up and in a matter of time it was time to say until next time to the island because were sure to come back again and this time with more family.

My thoughts on the trip?

What a trip I tell ya, all the amazing memories my mother and I have gotten. We were so lucky and blessed to even have witnessed such a beautiful place. I gotta say there wasn’t too many things that I was disappointed about during our stay except the fact that there was an arts and crafts activity only the very last day we were there that we wouldn’t have been able to do because we would leave by the time it opened.

But everything went smoothly and the trip was awesome overall. Like I said before, there was so much more to do other than what I had just mentioned earlier. There are plenty of things for the kids, adults, you could even take a boat to another island. My mom and I were thinking about going to the island of pink sand. Yes, meaning the sand there was literally pink! we didn’t get to do it though because of time. It was like a full day experience and we already had what we wanted to do planned out.

I strongly recommend this beyond gorgeous place to anyone thinking about going. Bohemians are really nice and helpful and you’ll feel so welcome and at home.

I can guarantee there are plenty of things one can do while you’re there, that you won’t be able to try everything and you’ll never be bored. If you just go for the beach, that in itself would be a trip well worth it!

Have any questions? Have you and your family/ friends been to the Bahamas? Tell me about it down below, let’s chat!

Monq review- Is it worth it?

Monq review- Is it worth it?

I’m really into essential oils and diffusers. I’m a strong believer of its benefits and I own very many oils. So when I found out there was a portable essential oil diffuser that I could keep in my purse or pocket, I was ecstatic.

I started looking up a pen a while ago by a company called Monq because it seemed like the most popular one. and I went ahead and ordered it and because I was dying to try it. At my own risk, I knew it had some great things about it and some not so great things. But I of course wanted to see for myself.

I’m currently still using mine, I’ve made a list of pros and cons to help you decide whether Monq would be the essential oil pen for you or not.

This review is about the product itself.

  • Very pretty design

Looking at the design of the vape pen, I found that it’s very pretty, elegant and simple. It’s even got a cute little rhinestone that lights when you inhale through one of the ends. Each pen that Monq has has different colors and On the side of then pen,it says the company’s name, the flavor, and the ingredients.

For example, “Zen” is purple, and it’s flavors consist of frankincense, orange and ylang ylang (it’s a flower if you’re like me and you chuckled at the name).

I think that’s what attracted me so much to this pen.. it’s so cute.

  • Smells and tastes great

Once you put the pen to you’re lips, you’re up for a treat because inhaling the vape filled you’re senses well. This is exactly what I wanted, you could smell each of the scents.

It’s not too strong and it’s not too light, so you don’t have to worry about coughing or gasping for air. And after each breathe, the aroma lingers in you’re nasal cavity for a bit so you can still smell it after for a while.

It’s not bitter, so if you’re worried about tasting the essential oils, you won’t. By “tastes great”, I only mean that there’s a hint of the flavors that you can taste in the back of you’re throat which is really nice. No bitterness and no sweetness.

One thing to note is that you don’t actually inhale it into you’re lungs as it’s too much direct vegetable glycerin ( one of the ingredients in essential oils) coming in contact.

I don’t know, something about how it can build up.

I tried it one time and when I wasn’t using it, I couldn’t take really deep breaths without coughing a little. You’re supposed to suck it into you’re mouth and hold it. Then you breathe it out of you’re nasal cavity.

This is the rule for any essential oil pen, not just this one.

  • It’s small

The size of this pen I think is excellent. It’s small enough to fit into you’re pocket or a purse or just about anywhere, really. It’s about the size of a cigarette: You could tuck it behind you’re ear, if you wanted to.

  • Price is a little above average

So each vape pen is listed for $20 individually. They have seven original lines which is where I got the Zen from. You could buy 3 of them for $54 or you could buy a whole set of seven for $115.

They constantly come out with new lines of flavors usually no more than 3 or 4 in the lines. You’re can also buy those individually for $20. And of course depending on whichever holiday is near they advertise a couple of their pens (usually 2 or 3) in a pack for purchase.

I believe the price is a little high for one individual pen. if it was more like $15 dollar, I would feel a bit better but I do believe Im paying for good quality.

  • You get 200- 250 inhales

It’s not a bad number but still to me doesn’t seem like the right amount of breaths for the amount of money that you are spending. Because I use my “Zen” pen about 5 to 10 times a day, which means that if I use it 8 times a day, it would have lasted about a month which like I said isn’t bad. Only spending about $20 a month..but it can be a bit pricey if i wanted to order more than one.

  • It’s not reusable

This is kind of a no brainer. Why the hell would they make it reusable? This is of a course a business where they want you to come back and buy more pens.

I know that

and I also know that they currently don’t have any refill options available in their store online but are looking into it at least. I just feel with as pretty as they make the pen, I’m not gonna want to just throw it away after I’ve used it up. Pens that look like that deserve to be reused.

Update: There is a new recycle option for people like me who would hate to waste their monq pens. It’s as easy as printing out a free shipping label and preparing it to be mailed!

I’ve researched that there are other reusable essential oil pens out there but I have not tried any out to recommend them to anyone, but when I do I will definitely share my thoughts with you. (:

My final thoughts.

Overall, my final thoughts are that Monq looked pretty cool, had a nice clean design, was very small, and smelled great and I could have probably overlooked the price but the fact that they didn’t have a reusable option really bugged me. I think it’s a great product and pretty great quality and I may order some more, but probably wouldn’t be something I invest in every month because I couldn’t reuse it at the moment.

would you like to try Monq out for yourself? you could order it directly from their website at

If you’ve tried Monq essential oil pens out let me know down below how you liked it. Do the pros outweigh the cons for you? or vice versa.

If you’re thinking about trying this and have any questions about any points that I may have missed, please ask away below!

What is a Bucket List? – How to create a great one today

What is a Bucket List? – How to create a great one today

What is my bucket list? You are essentially asking, what would I like to accomplish in a lifetime? This can consist of big goals, little goals, anything thing you want to accomplish really.. There’s no limit.

Today, like any other day at Sweet Humility, is special because in order for me to explain how to come up with ideas for your very own bucket list, I’ve decided to share some of mine with you. Upon request, I will post my full bucket list later on.

Understand that there is no wrong way to do your bucket list, that’s not the incentive I’m trying to give off here. This post is to give you some ideas and maybe help you think more abroad if you are having trouble.

If this applies to you, grab a snack, kick back, relax and ENJOY!

Where do you want to go?

I don’t know too many people that don’t like traveling and seeing new places, and that’s totally fine if you’re one of them. but if you do enjoy it, traveling is always a good thing to have on your bucket list.

Going to different places, seeing beautiful things, meeting new people of certain cultures, I believe, helps one to appreciate life and its beauty A little bit more more.

If you like to travel you probably want to put a couple of places in the world that you would like to see down as a reminder, not that you’ll forget, just to liven up your bucket list a little.

There’s so many beautiful places in the world and personally, I would love to see them all if I could.

The top places that I have in mind would be, Bora Bora, Niagara Falls, Paris and Thailand.

Material things

what things could you be happy with owning? A beautiful house? what about, a yacht?!

lol OK I know those are really big achievements that require really big money. But its good to think outside the box with your bucket list. Doesn’t have to be that big, you could want to get your first apartment if you’re young, or maybe you saw a cool phone, or your dream car. The possibilities are endless.

I would love a new car (not sure what kind yet), and definitely own my own beautiful home one day.

Are you a believer of the saying, “the best things in life are free”? What kind of relationships do you plan on having?

Maybe you’re one to want to find your prince Charming/ Cinderella, if you believe in fairy tales, or your soulmate in other words, if you don’t. You probably have plans on getting married one day and maybe starting a family too, so you can put that down. How many kids do you want to have and raise, do you want to adopt?

Are there relationships that you already have that you would like to make better in the future? That’s definitely a must have to put down, if you do.

Would you like to meet new people and create long-lasting friendships with them? you bet that’s bucket list worthy.

I could go on and on and but hopefully by now you get the picture about relationships. I personally believe a bucket list isn’t complete without a couple key points from this section, So brainstorm on!

I pray that my relationships with my family grow stronger each day, and that I find friends that are better than a girl can ask for!

Fears/ trials and tribulations

What would you like to overcome?

Do you like skydiving? No? Neither do I.

I’m not much of a fan of heights, but I might try it one day if my nerves let me. This would be one of my fears that I would have to overcome if I plan on trying skydiving.

This goes to show that I don’t want my fears to keep me from doing really awesome things in my lifetime. I don’t want to miss out on all life has to offer me because I’m scared to take the leap of faith.

I’m not telling you to do something you are terrified of if there is not one thing in your body telling you to do it. I’m only saying if you’re thinking about a challenge but you are too scared to do it, It’s definitely something to go on your bucket list.

A few of my fears would be skydiving, maybe a small tattoo ;P

Religion/ Spiritual

Do you have a religion/ spiritual goal?

Not everyone is religious, I know this, but if you are maybe there is a goal you would like to set for yourself, whether its converting to another denomination or faith, or building a better relationship[p with your creator. Definitely something to jot down on your bucket list.

I want my walk with God stronger.

And that’s all folks!

That’s all I have for you and hopefully you took some good tips away or maybe even created a bucket list while you were reading.

the brainstorming doesnt have to stop now, if you feel your bucketlist isn’t perfect you could always come back to it to revise it or add some things.

It’s completely up to you to decide how you want to create your list of things you want to do before you check out. The important thing is that you will be happy with the things listed and feel like you achieved everything you wanted to by that time.

Have any goals and aspirations on your bucket list you’d like to share? Comment down below, I’d love to hear about it! (:

Thank you for stopping by!
